We are pleased to announce that Benoit Aquin has won yet another major
award with his photographs of the dust bowl in China. This time he
received the 2008 Prix Pictet, the World's Premier Photographic Award in Sustainability.

During a dust storm in Gansu Province, a herder walks on parched earth, bringing back home his flock
of sheep. In the background, a forest shelter belt which was planted to break winds that blow away the
fertile soil, left bare after winter and dusty because of drought. The wall of trees also halts
encroaching dunes of the neighboring Tengger Desert.
