Heatwave rocks Moscow

Moscow has been hit with a prolonged heatwave that has seen temperatures of over 98F, a record for the city. Russians have flocked to the cities fountains and lakes to cool of. Hundreds of Russians have drowned during the heatwave, most of them in bathing accidents after drinking alcohol.

A man adorned with a variety of tattoos, including images of Lenin and Stalin, and the words Dum Spiro Spero [As long as I breathe, I hope] cools off in fountains next to the Kremlin and Red Square; such tattoos are common amongst Russian prison inmates, and contain a system of codes denoting the owner's status and history within the criminal system

The Russian Polo Cup 2006

Despite the recent appearance of Polo in Russia, it is by no means a young sport. The Moscow Polo Cup draws upon the considerable experience of international Polo Tournaments. Considerable social ado accompanies the match each year. Thousands file past Yeltsin's casket in Moscow
