Martin Sheen, Hollywood actor, is also a social activist and crusader who is present at various sites to call attention to peace and justice issues. Sheen attended services and rallies at the United Church of Christ which has been providing a safe haven for a family, Liliana, her husband, and their three children, all of whom are american citizens, but she is a Mexican immigrant facing deportation. Liliana, lives on the church premises since August 23, 2007 and has not left the church boundary in almost a year.

Play time for the Suleman Octuplets

EXCLUSIVE-- Nadya Suleman and her Octuplets, Maliyah, Makai, Isaiah, Noah, Josiah, Jeremiah, Jonah, and Nariyah play outdoors at their home. Mosab Hassan Yousef, author of "Son of Hamas" is the son of s founding member of Hamas, Sheikh Hassan Yousef. At one time he was a leader of the Islamic youth movement, participated in Israeli attacks and was later jailed by the Israelis. In jail he realized that his path differed from Hamas and radical Islam. He sought asylum in the United Sates, converted to Christianity and lives in San Diego where he attends an evangelical church. He is against violent Hamas tactics but asserts his father is a moderate.

Nadya Suleman and her 14 children household will be featured in a TV reality show on Channel 4 in England, scheduled to air November 2009, and in other European and American countries in 2010. The show is produced by Eyeworks whose crew spent several days with the family. She has won extensive awards and written many research papers, and books. Lopes is very active in the media and a strong supporter of education and diversity.

Nadya Suleman, the mother of octuplets, was scheduled to start shooting a reality television show with UK production company Eyeworks. The project is now on hold as famed Hollywood attorney Gloria Allred worked to petition a Judge to appoint an attorney to serve as guardian for the eight children to ensure labor laws are followed and the money the babies earn is kept safe. Suleman signed a deal for the TV show, that will collectively pay her eight babies $250,000 over three years. In the meantime, life at home with 14 children is keeping Nadya very busy.

Michael Jackson Memorial

Fans gathered to pay tribute and attend the public memorial service for legendary pop star Michael Jackson. Held at the Staples Center, Jackson was eulogized in words and song by an all-star list of musicians, athletes and other celebrities during a mournful ceremony. His three children, along with members of his family were in attendance. Fans without tickets to the event watched from out side the Center on display screens. The King of Pop passed away at age 50 on June 25, 2009 from a cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home.

Akiko Senow, 25, traveled from Japan in hopes of finding a ticket to the public memorial for Michael Jackson. She was brought to tears when a good Samaritan gave her a ticket and wrist band.

Tobacco Road Officials say the 15 percent of the tobacco farmers who elected not to take the buyout were largely members of the Amish and Mennonite community who will not participate in any government programs and can depend on family members to work their farms, but they question whether the hard work that goes into tobacco farming is worth the price. The Farmers smell a tobacco leaf, , curious to know why this particular bundle sold at such a low bid.

Nancy Pastor has won numerous awards including the WHNPA Project Grant 2002, for her work on "Tobacco Road", third place in the NPPA 2002 Cliff Edom’s New America Award, and was a finalist in 2002 Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography for her work on a long term project entitled Jasmine; A Journey of Hope.
