Families of American soldiers killed in Iraq protest near ranch of President Bush

Cindy Sheehan's son Casey, an Army specialist with the 1st Cavalry, was killed in Bagdad on April 4, 2004. In August of 2005, Sheehan is drawing media attention for her protest against the war in Iraq, staged just a few miles from George W. Bush's Crawford, Texas ranch during the President's working vacation. Supporters and activists have flocked to "Camp Casey" to support Sheehan in her push to meet with President Bush and to confront him about the reasons he went to war with Iraq. Sheehan now devotes her time to anti-war activism and the pacifist group she has founded, "Gold Star Families for Peace", which is comprised of families who have lost loved ones to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Asthma Victims at Hunts Point

One of six children in Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood near San Francisco has Asthma. It is evident that the rampant asthma in BVHP cannot be solely associated with the highly polluting PG&E power plant, toxic Naval shipyard, huge sewage treatment plant, and appalling 325 toxic dumpsites poisoning the area. It is a more complex product of a permeating depressed economic condition resulting in poor healthcare, sub-standard housing and need of more asthma education. BVHP has the lowest average income in San Francisco and the highest rate of asthma.
